Mi 10T 5G Review: With 144Hz Refresh Rate and SD865 Processor

Xiaomi’s smartphone  Mi 10T 5G costs Rs 37,999. At this price there is this smartphone that has  a lot that affects.  But there are some things that the company should have given at this price point.

Xiaomi has started selling Mi 10T 5G smartphone in India from November. High end specifications have been given in this phone. 5G has not arrived in India at the moment, but do not buy any phone of this price without 5G, because 5G will be available in India within one to two years.

However, in this review, we will tell you about the advantages and drawbacks of Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G smartphones. After reading this, you will be in a position to decide whether you should buy your smartphone or not.

Design and Build Quality The Mi 10T 5G

The phone comes in a glossy finish and when used without a cover, it attracts a lot of fingerprints, which looks ugly. However, the company has also provided a nice cover with it.

The phone is a bit heavy, but it looks completely premium. The phone is curved from the back and is also easy to hold. The frame is of metal, and the glass is also used in its rear. The black variant of the phone is such that you can see your face comfortably in it.

On the rear panel, there is a camera module in a corner on the top which is bumpy. This could have been reduced further. Here you get three cameras and flash lights. The down side is the branding of the company.  

There is a fingerprint scanner on the right side of the phone, which also acts as a home button. Above this are the volume rocker keys. The speaker grille, USB Type C port and SIM tray are available in the bottom.

Talking about the front, here is a punchhole, which is less in the corner and bezels. However, you will be able to notice Chin at the bottom.

Overall phone is good in terms of look and feel and is durable. We have not done the durability test.

The Display of The Mi 10T 5G

The Mi 10T 5G has a 6.67-inch Full HD Plus display. This is an LCD display and the company should have provided AMOLED panels at this price.

The good thing is that here you get a high refresh rate and that too of 144Hz. If you are interested you will have the option to choose one of the three. From the phone’s settings you can select 60Hz, 90Hz and 144Hz. The 144Hz battery will consume a bit more, but it is very smooth. That is, if you want to save battery, you can use 60Hz.

The punch of this phone will not get an AMOLED-like punch, but the LCD is also not bad. Colors look good, the screen is bright and our experience from watching videos to gaming has been good with it.

Since I use every phone only in dark mode, you cannot expect dark mode like AMOLED from the LCD panel. Overall the display of this phone is also good.

Performance and Software The Mi 10T 5G

The MI 10T 5G comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It has two variants. The base variant has 128GB of storage with 6GB of RAM, while the top model has only 128GB of storage with 8GB of RAM.

The phone is very fast and smooth in daily use. For high graphics gaming, 8GB RAM variant will be better for you. Small to big games can be played without interruption.

In gaming, this phone gets the full benefit of the 144Hz refresh rate and in multi-player gaming, you are going to have a lot of fun with this phone. This phone heats up while playing games in full settings for a long time.

The display of this phone is so big that you can hardly use it with one hand. You will see the benefit of its big screen in terms of viewing the content of videos and OTT.

We have not found the problem of phone hang or lag as long as it is used. Usually, hang and lag problems are rarely found in high end new smartphones these days, but in some six months this problem starts appearing.

In MI 10T 5G, you have been given Android 10 based MIUI 12. Xiaomi is constantly improving its custom skin. But despite this, you will find many types of pre-installed apps here, which you can also call bloatware.

There are many customization options in the phone’s software. Options and features have also been provided for multi-tasking and due to its hardware, multi-tasking in this phone is very fast and great.

 Camera of The Mi 10T 5G

Triple rear camera setup has been given in Mi 10T 5G. The primary lens is 64 megapixels. The second is a 13 megapixel ultra wide lens, while the third camera is 5 megapixels, this is macro. This smartphone has a 20-megapixel front camera for selfie.

The 64 megapixel lens is not the default, so you have to change it by going to the camera interface. The details clicked on the pictures clicked from the primary camera and the colors are also accurate.

The camera setup of this phone comes in outdoor and you can do good photography with it. In low light, click pictures will disappoint you a bit which could have been bettered. However, if you talk about night mode, then by enabling it, you can click the photos comfortably at night.

The macro sensor is good and does not take much time to lock focus. You get good coverage in a wide angle, but you will miss the details here – especially in the clicked pictures.

There are many different modes in the camera interface, out of which I have used fewer modes. Because there are many fancy modes that are right for putting photos on social media.

Overall, talking about the camera performance of this smartphone, it is not the best of the segment. But it is not bad in this segment either. Because clicking on the pictures you want on Moments, it will make it ready for you.

Battery Backup The Mi 10T 5G

The 5,000mAh battery is provided in the Mi 10t. As you would know that high refresh rate means fast battery consumption. The good thing with this phone is that you can set 60 Hz, 90 Hz and 144 Hz yourself. If you want more battery backup then you can run it at 60Hz.

There is 33W fast charge support with this phone. The phone gets charged quickly. It took us over 1.5 hours to fully charge it. In mixed use, the battery provides easy backup for one day. Despite heavy use, it can run throughout the day. Overall you will not be disappointed with its battery backup.

There is a lot in Mi 10T 5G due to which it is worth buying and we have told you about them above. But at this price point, if this phone was equipped with water proof, dust proof, wireless charging support and AMOLED display, then this phone would have become the best of this segment. The lack of some features will rarely miss you, as it also has things like groundbreaking 144Hz refresh rate and Snapdragon 865 to make them full.
